good morning from my kitchen in PJs ☀️ woke up an hour ago from a rough nights sleep. when i’m stressed & thinking of too many things, i have sleepless nights, randomly wake up in the middle of the night & have nightmares. my mind feels like it’s speeding at 1000mph. this is also when my anxiety kicks in & i panic over small things.
it’s hard to share but i want to be real here. it’s not always easy, fun and perfect even though it may seem like it at first glance. juggling IG & future plans for it, RD exam prep and wedding planning. then there’s the little things to do everyday. there’s always going to be new things that pile on. it’s our job to find ways to prioritize our current situations & recognize our stress isn’t going to make that pile any smaller 🤷🏻‍♀️

i’ve started to schedule in breaks instead of just a schedule of tasks. i set alarms and make myself stop working for 5-10 mins. sometimes i just go out for some fresh air.

i listen to instrumental/piano music when studying. nothing i can sing to or else i’ll get distracted.

i’m challenging myself to tell others what’s going on. this is the hardest because i tend to isolate myself in moments like this & refuse to talk about it. also, i always act like nothing is wrong & push things to the side. still working on it.

i journal. i write out my thoughts and occasionally, write myself letters of advice from third person. letters of care and compassion to one self that i’ll read one day.
.
i read a book. i keep my phone away, sit on my couch and just enjoy the simplicity of reading actual books and not something on a computer/phone.

i make time to workout. workout classes, gym or just outdoor walks. i fuel myself with foods i crave & enjoy eating.
.
i’m trying to remind myself that all things will work out. how? honestly idk, but God knows. that’s for sure!

i pray. i pray because God is always listening.

recently, i read through Psalm 46:1 - “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” // we don’t need to muffle our cries or feel ashamed to have reason to cry. God is never too far or too busy - He always meets us in our need ❤️ #winniesbalance

i cooked the veggies & made this nutritional yeast sauce with @bertolli_us extra virgin olive oil! this olive oil is always analyzed for chemicals/contaminants and also monitor the production of the olives in their farms. they always only pick quality olives, which is the most important step in creating a great-tasting and full-bodied flavor product like this 👅 it goes great with seafood, meats, veggies, pasta, salad dressings and even soups!

👩🏻‍🍳 nutritional yeast sauce: mix together 1 cup nutritional yeast, 2/3 cup water, 2 tbsp @bertolli_us extra virgin olive oil, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, dash of paprika, salt and pepper to taste

1 cup bell peppers, chopped
1/2 cup zucchini, quartered
2 links chicken sausage
2 tsp @bertolli_us olive oil
4 oz cavatappi pasta

1. cook pasta according to instructions on box. drain and toss in 1 tbsp olive oil when done. then leave to side.
2. preheat pan to medium heat with 2 tsp @bertolli_us olive oil.
3. add in bell peppers, zucchini and chicken sausage - saute until soft & done.
4. add in chicken sausage + veggie mixture into pasta. toss in nutritional yeast sauce and toss to combine.
5. serve with extra sauce on top! ENJOY!

Sometimes when people are looking to clean up their diet, it can seem daunting to make all the changes necessary from their baseline diet.
•
It doesn’t have to be! Baby steps baby. Simple changes can make a big impact 1 year, 5 years and 10 years down the line.
You don’t have to be eating a #glutenfree, #vegan, #keto, #paleo diet to be healthy.
•
Simple tips:
🔹Eat at least 1 healthy meal per day (ie. consistently have a smoothie for breakfast).
🔹If you are not a fan of veggies and you realistically know you won’t eat much - consider getting a greens powder. You can add it to your smoothie to mask the taste OR you can just mix it with water and chug a lug it down and get multiple servings of greens at once. I love Progressive VegGreens powder and Alpha Science Labs Ultimate Greens Concentrate.
🔹Don’t eat at least 3 hours before sleeping to optimize your sleep. This will prevent blood flow from being diverted away from brain detoxing.
🔹If you are eating something ‘naughty’ just try and counterbalance it with something healthy you have to eat beforehand.
🔹Have lots of fruits and veggies in your kitchen and fridge. When looking to snack having ample amounts of these available help semi-force you make a healthier choice.

Happy Saturday friends 🤗 is it me or do rainy days make you not want to do anything? I took today off because I feel like ever since getting back from vacation I just haven’t had a second to catch up and get my life back in order. So today was spent doing just that! Oh and eating allll the foods!

A3 finger serving of savoury and sweet nuts...part of my motivation to focus on my selfcare regime last week was to improve the quality of the foods I've been eating, as some of my old habits have crept in. I've had a considerable amount of stresses and disruptions over the last 8 months.
Yesterday I made these yummy nuts for our daily snacks.
They are from the Shake-It Recipe book. I've included the recipe here. Unfortunately I accidentally put Worcester sauce instead of tamari! But they still taste great. I also added sunflower seeds.

And just to let you know that fish is one of the healthiest foods you can eat. It’s a great source of omega-3, low-saturated fats and nutrients such as vitamin D, selenium, protein.
There are three types of fish: oily fish, white fish and shellfish, all of which provide different nutritional benefits. Two portions are recommended each week, with one of those being an oily fish.
Fish deserves a place in everyone’s diet. 🥣

MEATBALLS by my little monster!
Little hands 👐 are the best hands to mix things up in the kitchen!
Your child will gain many benefits from working alongside you in the kitchen, including actually learning how to cook! Because kids are always manipulating play-doh or slime, they naturally know how to mix ground meat or dough, so use them in the kitchen and they will love to make their own meatballs for dinner!
We like to use grass-fed bison cuz it gives you those good omega-3's plus we mix them with chickpea breadcrumbs in place of wheat & we use oil in place of eggs
These substitutions are great if you're kiddo has an egg or wheat intolerance🤗
I put a little chick broth in the bottom of the pan then after adding in meatballs, cover with foil and bake at 450 until done, the broth adds more flavor & moistness 🤗

You pick what you spend your money on all the time. ◾️I used to think that a gym membership of $50/month was too much. I could spend that on a fancy dinner out or a pair of shoes. 🔻But then I was paying over $100/month on a crossfit membership & it was worth every penny. ◾️I didn’t want to buy the 1stphorm opti greens at first because $59 was pricey. I could buy myself another pair of leggings. 🔻But now I’m guaranteed to get my micronutrients in daily, my skin is clear, & my digestion is on point. And that’s only $1.99/day ◾️I didn’t want to buy the resistance bands that could help improve my warmups and workouts. I could just figure something else out with the gym equipment 🔻But now I have increased my pull-up reps faster than I ever expected because the bands allowed me to slowly decrease resistance as my strength grew.
