We love this LEGO mini maker idea Reposted from @findthelittlemind Letter Prompt Invitation to Build 🔤
We love using our Mini Maker Space. It was so easy to make (@ikeausa MALA easel and @creativeqt Peel 'n Stick Baseplates). Today we had fun working together using LEGO bricks and alphabet flash cards for an invitation to build.
Such a fun way to develop fine motor skills, creativity, and letter recognition. Definitely needed in preparation for going Back to School, which is this week's @steamkidschallenge and @artprojectmemphis theme.
Come join us for this week’s STEAM Kids Challenge! We’re headed BACK TO SCHOOL! We’d love to see what you’re doing to prepare for school this fall? Teachers, we know you have great projects! Parents, August is our time to warm the kids up ;) And get ready to be inspired by this week’s guest hosts, Anna and Katherine of The Art Project (@artprojectmemphis). 🛎 Christmas Salt Writing! ✍🏼 Perfect sick day learning activity. The paper bells have Chinese characters that are just common words that my daughter wanted to learn to write. Although she learned how to read them a long time ago, this activity can help with reading, too. All you need is:
1️⃣ Tray - I like providing a square tray so that it’s like a square Chinese writing grid, but you can use a baking dish or pan or whatever you have at home. Regardless, my daughter likes to try to fit more than one character in there as you can see in my stories lol.
2️⃣ Salt - Just add food coloring & mix!
3️⃣ Stick - We used a chopstick to simulate writing with a pencil as I didn’t want her to write on the tray since we use it for other things
Videos in my stories! I think the crunch of the salt helps to commit each stroke to memory! Plus it saves paper! 🙌🏼
KPS believes that #learning is not just confined to the books. #Students acquire a deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world #challenges and problems.
The #school organised a two days’ workshop for its project leaders across Grade K-8 to enhance their #teaching style of active learning and inquiry-based learning. The #workshop was lead by Mr. Kyle Edwards, Head of Vega School and his team - Ms. Meenu Yadav, Vega Learning Leader for Grade 2 and Ms.Neerja Chauhan, Vega Learning #Leader for Grade 4.
PBL: "Problem-based learning It is a style of #activelearning and inquiry-based learning. It contrasts with paper-based, rote memorization, or teacher-led instruction that presents established facts or portrays a smooth path to #knowledge by instead posing questions, problems or scenarios.
The workshop focussed on implementing the pedagogy in the classes wherein students explore problems and challenges that have real-world applications, increasing the possibility of long-term retention of #skills and concepts.
The #teachers went back with a deeper understanding that PBL is not a task but a #mindset and #pedagogical approach.
Swipe to see a fantastic cosy snow den linked to this beautiful picture book version of Walter de la Mare’s ‘Snow’. The illustrations tell their own story alongside the poetic text. And note that #kitcamp is suitable for all weathers- armed with a snowsuit and a flask we have a snowy reading den!
Christmas is coming!
