  • 📍Snake Pass, Peak District Photography is a constant lesson in trying to maximise the opportunity or lack thereof and squeeze the last drop out of what you’re doing. After seemingly being in the wrong place at the wrong time on two peaks visits in two days, I decided to step away from photos and pull in some time lapse and a little bit of video - stories incoming. I did however manage to get some semi-dusk light trails on the Snake Pass that perfectly capture the gritty road and half-season colours of Autumn

  • This isn't my normal kind of nature post, but sometimes something comes along that you have to record whether it 'fits the grid' or not. For Rememberance Sunday Hazel and I along with @prettythingspreloved2018 went to the @1418now #pagesofthesea event on Weymouth seafront. Silhouettes of soldiers and nurses had been raked into the sand by volunteers and members of the public alongside a beautiful portrait of Private Stanley Robert McDougall VC. There were war poetry recitals, and steady streams of people passing by proudly wearing their poppies stopping to join in, listen, see the portrait, and share a story or two with strangers. 100 years on we need to remember more than ever the horrors of war. My final words on this post I'll leave to Carol Anne Duffy who has a far better way with words than I. She wrote the poem 'The Wound In Time' for this day..... "What happened next? War. And after that? War. And now? War. War. History might as well be water, chastising this shore; for we learn nothing from your endless sacrifice. Your faces drowning in the pages of the sea" - Carol Ann Duffy, 2018.
