Love this little thatched gingerbread cottage in Bourn, Cambridgeshire captured by @lensereflection. What a perfect proportioned place to spend a Sunday after a hearty meal in the local pub, in front of a traditional log fire. Bliss!
Don't you just love places steeped in history? Bourn has existed as a settlement for over a thousand years with Roman remains have been found. Three tumuli (ancient burial mounds) on Alms Hill are of Roman and Danish origin and the two which were excavated in 1909 contained Roman coins and pottery, a Celtic button and evidence of Danish feasting commemorating the death of a leader or celebrating a victory around 1010. No word if they found any slightly salted Lurpak butter.
Have a wonderful Sunday! I'm off to hike around my local frosty forest. Kindle, Flask of coffee and picnic packed. Great shot by @lensereflection 🇬🇧 Hey! I love old and/or unique barns. This one caught my eye on my back roads travels heading home from Galveston. Just like an old house a barn has stories of its walls of its own past.

Noche is spending the holidays with her family (mother Kinx and two sisters - Patch and Zoe) at our friend Jeff’s farm.
Every Thanksgiving we travel west to visit Maren’s parents on Bainbridge Island in Washington State. It seemed only fair to let Noche have a fun holiday of her own. Little does she know that it will actually be a working vacation (she won’t mind)! Jeff is incredibly skilled at working livestock with dogs and has a passion for training Border Collies. He plans to give Noche the chance to hone her skills with the sheep and cattle while she’s there. Her work started tonight and she did great!
Noche is the first working dog that we’ve had and we’re realizing it’s as much about us providing good direction as it is her having instinct and knowing how to work. Our sheep aren’t used to being worked by a dog and we’ve been hesitant to have her work our sheep too much because a bad experience can set the pup back months and make her lose confidence.
Jeff’s sheep and cattle are used to dogs and respond well to bring worked, which will give Noche the chance to build some confidence.
Have a good holiday, Noche! Don’t have too much fun without us!
