“Daddy wait for me!" - Do you know how long I have been waiting to visit Gold Hill? Ever since I signed this account up to Instagram 2 years ago I have been desperate to visit this place! It is a 2 and a half hour drive from me and I have never found the right time to go. After visiting nearby Stourhead I made the strip to Shaftesbury in Dorset where this street is. I spent around 15 minutes at the top of the hill appreciating the view, I actually had the whole place to myself which I didn't expect. It was everything I thought it would be but even prettier in person.
As I turned around to leave I heard a high pitched squeak coming from the bottom of the hill, I turned around and saw a little girl dressed in red tear round the corner. At this point I would normally throw my backpack off, stress over getting the zip open, whack out the camera and fiddle with a particular lens. This time around I was fortunate to have a lightweight camera hanging from my wrist, meaning within 30 seconds the camera was on and the photo was snapped.
Big BIG thanks to @fujifilmx_uk for lending me their FUJIFILM XF10 camera for the last couple of weeks to test out. This camera is great for those wanting to start out in photography but don't know what camera to use or what cameras will overwhelm them. The camera is simple to use with a lot of the features of a professional camera (I always shoot on aperture priority), it also has inbuilt WiFi and Bluetooth for when you want to upload to your phone to share to Instagram straight away (the square mode even lets you shoot in Instagram size).
They have very kindly given me the discount code POSTCARDS10 for you guys to get 10% off. If any of you decide to shoot with this camera, please tag me in your photos, I would love to see!
Christmas Tree Wonderland Grand Opening and Lights Switch-On was a resounding success with thousands attending the amazing festive spectacle in Bournemouth!
Love Christmas? #LoveBournemouth 🎄🎅🏽⛸
I think I look relatively calm here considering I’d just literally run up to the highest point on the entire south coast of the UK. #jurassiccoast#cliffs
At the end of the longest beach in the UK you’ll find the island of Portland and at its far end sits Portland Bill Lighthouse. Portland is probably most famous for its Portland Stone a limestone quarried here and that has been used in buildings such as St Paul’s Cathedral. It’s also famous for The Lobster Pot 😀 Thank you to @glovantastic for sharing this image. #walkinguk 👣
A long long exposure of 82 seconds produces a silky smooth ocean of tranquil blue with a hint of highlights from the crashing waves on the shoreline. Experimenting with exposure times produces some interesting effects which I used here to make a dreamy sunset scene on the beach at Durdle Door.
There is a full panoramic version of this on my website if you want to take a look. Follow the link below to find it. 👍

Monday Musing - Richard was a frequent visitor to Wareham, often taking school parties to do some sketching. The day we took the photos for this painting was perfect, the light was just right and the river was buzzing with boats and people. Looking at the photos back home Richard decided to focus on the tranquil scene of a yacht moored off The Priory Hotel. The colour focus came from the lush rushes and foliage which is mirrored by the colour of the trees.

So, what is the Instagram algorithm? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instagram originally started off as a simple ‘reverse-chronological’ feed, where you would see the most recent posts of the people you followed, first. In March 2016 Instagram Switched to an Algorithm. Instagram now uses an algorithm which figures out what content will interest you and this is the content you will see first.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instagram mentions the following factors as influencing the algorithm:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“the likeliness you’ll be interested in the content,”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“your relationship with the person posting”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“the timeliness of the post.”.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Instagram algorithm is somewhat of a mystery, so it’s only possible to make assumptions and guesses about how it works, based on the information they release and also from the user experience. There’s no magic formula I can offer, but in order to frame the different elements that are thought to influence the Instagram algorithm, I have created the acronym – R.E.S.T.A.R.T. which I will explain in more detail in my blog.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Visit www.kistography.co.uk and search for 'algorithm' to read more.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I finally had a go sideways...and even managed not to fall off 🙊 Whoever said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks clearly never met Dennis - from racehorse to showjumper to hunt horse to side-saddle 💕🐴 thankyou @chloe.l.marsh for heaving me up there 😂 #beginnersluck
Where it all begun ☀️
When we first moved to SA we stayed at little tourist park at Christie’s Beach . The only reason we are here is because from the first ever sunset I watched from this beach , I couldn’t imagine our lives missing another sunset like that one .
The water was turquoise blue for the entirety of our coastal walk from Moana to Christie’s beach yesterday 😍
An absolute jewel .
