  • A selection of oak joints to show some of the timber repairs carried out during the restoration work at @landmarktrust #llwyncelyn I ebonised one half of each joint to represent the old timber. These replica joints will be on display in the beast house there. #landmarktrust #handtools

  • The Parish House, Baltonsborough, Somerset. A rare surviving Church house C1500 still with its graceful oak arch trusses. One of the constant problems of keeping the interiors looking comfortable and relevant is the wear and tear of week in week out holiday use. Here the rug had passed beyond tastefully worn to an H &S hazard, and has had to be retired. Sourcing replacements, as shown, the right size and colour is an increasing challenge. #landmarktrust #landmark #parishhouse #baltonsborough #antiquerugs @landmarktrust

  • A recent series of screen prints depicting Landmark Trust properties, created in collaboration with Dan Bugg at the Penfold Press. In order... - The Banqueting Houses, Chipping Campden. - Belmont House, Lyme Regis. - Tixall Gatehouse. - Stevenstone Library. - The Chateaux, Gate Burton. Each print comes in an edition of 75 and measures 39x28cm (image size). The paper size is 47x37cm. £225 inc postage. The Trust and its important work have preserved a rare family of buildings - among them gatehouses, garden temples, bathhouses, eyecatchers, watchtowers, castles - all are fragments and vestiges of the past. However so many could have been lost forever and passed into memory had it not been for their meticulous restoration and revival. To see windows reglazed and roofs raised from ruin is a thrilling sight. #landmarktrust #edkluz #penfoldpress

Back at the grindstone today with work, washing and bill paying and wishing I was still there! #tivoli #landmarktrust #roomwithaview #italianholiday

  • I am getting wanderlust again, and looking at beautiful photos of my travels just makes it worse! And a few requests I’ve had to do projects in England and Europe might just tip the balance. But it would be hard to give up the visits to these @landmarktrust houses, like this one, the Keeper’s Cottage at Old Warden. Magical and for me a perfect short holiday, a stay at almost any of these properties is my idea of an ideal weekend on my own. #historichouses #englishcountryhouses #landmarktrust #keeperscottage #bedfordshire

  • A room with a view... what a lovely stay at Woodsford Castle. We stayed in the surviving part of a 14th-century castle, a rambling wing of great interest and charm, deep in Hardy country just outside Dorchester. Its roof has one of the largest expanses of thatch in the county. Just one side of the quadrangular castle, built in 1370 and probably added to an existing group of buildings, remains today. . . . #LandmarkTrust #WoodsfordCastle #holiday

  • Many of the Lundy seal pups have been battered around by the high winds over the last few days, but not this one - instead he's just been lazing around, belly in the air, snoozing with his head propped between the craggy rocks, and somehow utterly charming in his slobbish indifference! #myweekofnoface

  • On my guided walk earlier this week, we were lucky enough to pass by the bird ringers tending their mist nets just as this gorgeous goldfinch had been caught by Tony Taylor. We got to see this little one being weighed, measured and ringed - 15 grams on the scales but heavy with beauty and colour, though he was a little camera shy! The British Trust for Ornithology do so much essential studying of Lundy's resident and migratory birds, helping to understand populations of wild birds in the Uk and map their travels around the globe #myweekofnoface

  • Proud as punch to announce that this shot of The Old Hall @landmarktrust is going to be the cover of the forthcoming England issue of the glorious @lodestarsanthology magazine, published later this month. . . . ‘Think of a self-catering holiday and where does your imagination take you? Perhaps it’s to a shepherd’s hut, pod or luxury yurt? All very appealing prospects, but if you’re fortunate enough to be acquainted with The Landmark Trust, then your thoughts might head for more ancient dwellings. You may find yourself torn between a 19th century railway station in Staffordshire, a water tower in Norfolk or one of the few Jacobean houses in Spitalfields that survived the Great Fire of London. Maybe a converted pigsty in Yorkshire or a castle keep in the Devon estuary will take your fancy. Or you may settle on the great hall of a vanished manor house in a honey-stoned Somerset village . . .' . . . Extract from the wife’s (@jenharrisonbunning) article from the issue. Cameo appearance from our whippet Tarka.
