  • “I used to have brothers and siblings, but not anymore. I was taken away from my family back to Ottawa by CAS because I was neglected. I was not well taken care of. There were some signs that they didn’t take care of me properly and the neighbours got concerned. So, the CAS transferred me from Niagara Falls to Ottawa, to a foster family. I grew up in a foster family until about 1992 and then came to Christian Horizon. I’ve been here ever since. Here, I do a lot of tuning, a lot of sanding, I do ink and I do woodshop. Outside of work, I go to church, I go swimming and I do a lot of stuff. I guess I can look for a relationship, but I never bother. I decided to be myself. I like being myself. It’s ok to be single. I like helping other people. I’ve always wanted to go on a mission trip. In 2006, I went to Ecuador with Christian Horizon. I loved being there. It was a third-world country, and I guess it made me realize that here in Canada we have it all, compared to other countries. After coming back, I no longer take anything for granted. I’ll always be happy that I get to vote and will always be happy that I get my freedom; I get to go about in the streets, go to restaurants, go to Tim Hortons and not worry about it.”

  • Our wonderful centre block in the Parliament is going to be closed for renovations for 12 years, and all house business are going to be relocated to Ottawa conference centre (a former train station). 12 years seem to be such a long time! Today I had the privilege to be there for a committee appearance, like many others before. Today’s however, was a special one, the last one to be held in the room for the next decade. As a former parliamentary staffer, the Parliament Hill has a special place in my heart! Many amazing memories, hectic days, but under the guidance of the most formidable minister boss! If you have a chance you should visit this incredible historic building before it closes for renovations ❤️ #myottawa #parliamenthill #canadianparliament #placestovisit #placestogo #ottawalife #loveottawa #proudcanadian #patvphotography #photoblogger #instablogger

  • How the internet will cause the destruction of this structure — — The Parliament Hill location in Ottawa, Canada served as a military base until 1859, when Queen Victoria chose Ottawa as the capital of the Province of Canada. The most amazing fact to me is that this entire structure is going to be closed down for the next 10-15 years for renovations for a couple of reasons, most notably the Internet. The structure was built at a time when wifi wasn’t a thing, and the folks who currently work here have issues with accessing the internet (LAN and wifi). Hah! Take that, wonderful gothic design building! The green seats are for their congress (House of Commons), and the red seats are for their senate - with each side (gov’t/opposition) sitting facing each other. The three seats at the top are for: 1) Front: The Speaker of the Senate, one who controls the senate room. 2) Back Two: For the leader of the nation (the Governor General - currently a female astronaut 👏) and their spouse. The Governor General then transfers the info to the Queen of England for approval. We’re one strange species, I tell ya’! Felt like I was in 1859 myself. Also, you can go to the top of the tower, right under the clock, if you choose to.

  • Prime Minister Aiden has been on the move all day! He had an early start on @ctvottawamorninglive where he shared with @henryburris1 what his prime minister wish experience has been like so far and what's still to come. Later, he held his first news conference in the House of Commons Foyer where he bravely shared his medical journey and the reasons he wanted to be Canada's prime minister for his wish. Stayed tuned for more exciting news about Aiden's wish! #PMAidenWish #MakeAWishCanada #MakeAWish #wishinprogress #ottawa #parliamenthill

  • I wanted to share this epic piece of history that I obtained today ! I met one of the heritage carpenters from Parliament Hill today. When they were doing the restoration he kept one of the window frames from the Parliamentary Library and turned it into a beautiful mirror 👌🏼He shared some amazing stories and I’m honoured to take this heritage piece into my collection 👍🏼 #parliament #parliamenthill #history #heritage #antiques #mirror #carpentry #carpenter #canada

  • Even on a frozen day, #ParliamentHill is still worth it. — 1/ Entrance to the parliament building is graced by the #CenntennialFlame, lit to commemorate Canada’s 100 birthday, back in 1967. 2/ View looking north towards Ottawa River, from Peace Tower (the parliament tower), across the dome is Alexandra bridge, linking Ontario to Quebec. 3/ An outlook from Alexandra bridge towards the Parliament. 🇨🇦
